How to Copy an Instagram Post Link (Phone and Computer)
Every downloader, ours included, starts with a link. Instagram hides it a little, and the menus move around from time to time, so here’s where to look.
On the Instagram app (iPhone and Android)
- A post or video: tap the paper-plane (share) icon under it, then Copy link.
- A Reel: tap the paper-plane icon on the right-hand side, then Copy link.
- A story: tap the paper-plane icon or the three dots at the bottom of the story and look for Copy link. If you don’t see it, that story can’t be shared by link.
On a computer
Open the post on instagram.com, click the three dots (⋯) and choose Copy link. Or open the post on its own page and copy the address from your browser’s address bar. Both give you the same thing.
What a good link looks like
- A post:
instagram.com/p/… - A Reel:
instagram.com/reel/… - A long video:
instagram.com/tv/… - A story:
instagram.com/stories/username/… - Share links that start with
instagram.com/share/…work too.
A profile link won’t work
A link like instagram.com/username points to a person, not to a particular post. A downloader needs the link of the exact post, Reel or story, so open the one you want first and copy its link.
Now use it
Paste the link into the video downloader, the Reels downloader or the photo downloader. If it still doesn’t work, our guide on why a video won’t download covers the usual causes.
