How to Download Instagram Reels on iPhone (No App Needed)
Apple doesn’t let Instagram save Reels straight to your camera roll, and most “downloader” apps in the App Store are packed with ads. You don’t need one. Safari on your iPhone can download files by itself, and the whole thing takes about half a minute.
What you need
An iPhone on iOS 13 or later, and a Reel from a public account.
The steps
- Open the Reel in Instagram and tap the paper-plane (share) icon.
- Tap Copy link.
- Open Safari and go to the Reels downloader.
- Paste the link into the box and tap Download.
- Tap a quality button. Safari asks whether to download the file, so say yes.
- A small arrow appears next to the address bar. Tap it, open Downloads and tap the file.
- Tap the share icon in the corner and choose Save Video. It’s now in Photos.
If it doesn’t work
Use Safari itself, not a browser built into another app, because those often block downloads. Check that the account is public and that you copied the Reel’s own link rather than the profile’s. If the Downloads arrow never appears, look in the Files app under Downloads.
Saving a Reel for yourself is one thing; reposting it is another. Ask the creator first. We explain more in our short guide to the rules.
